It is has come to our attention that a number of students and teachers have been receiving invites from other students to join the professional networking site LinkedIn. We have investigated a number of these occurrences and found in some cases that students have set up accounts, and in others they have not, but invitations have been sent out to other students on their behalf.
Although LinkedIn has a reputation as a respected professional networking site for professionals, there is currently considerable discussion on the internet about random invitations causing annoyance. Our advice to students receiving these invites is to either delete, or set them up as spam, as DC has no control over them. Please note DC has never encouraged students to sign up to LinkedIn as it is intended for employed adult professionals.
