Year 2 students investigate using primary resources

Posted: March 26, 2015

In every unit of inquiry, primary resources are an invaluable way for students to gather information. Students ask questions, research or gather data directly from individuals through interviews, guest speakers or visiting experts. For the ‘Where we are in place and time’ unit, guest speakers have provided a different perspective on places and events in history. Mrs Lyn Coote introduced Year 2 students to ‘perspectives’ through a story on refugees. Mr Jason Boon became an Egyptian Pharaoh who sat in the ‘hot seat’ to answer student questions about life in Ancient Egypt. Students also heard about a first-hand experience of the moon landing from Mr Bob Priest, who was a young student at the time and vividly remembers this historical event. In every unit primary resources are highly valued. We are grateful for all the parents and visitors who have joined our classrooms this year to support our investigations.
