Posted: April 30, 2015

On Saturday 18 April 2015, Hong Kong witnessed the first ever inter-schools Ultimate Frisbee competition in the city. Hosted at a venue in Prince Edward, eight different schools participated in the inaugural HKUPA tournament. These schools were Chinese International School, West Island School, HK International School, Evangelical Lutheran Church of HK Lutheran Academy, Discovery College, HK International College, King George V and Yuen Long Catholic Secondary School

Following a nine-month training schedule within their CCA club, DC took a squad of 15 players from Y10&11 to the tournament and easily qualified from Pool Group B. This qualification included 4-3, 14-0 and 10-1 victories over different schools. In the semi-final, DC came up against a very talented yet enthusiastic Lutheran Academy team, losing 6-2. After a third/fourth place-off decider, DC achieved third place in the overall standings. The level of commitment, skill, enthusiasm, teamwork and sportsmanship displayed by the students was outstanding. Mr Lee Sullivan and Mr Rob Street witnessed first-hand the wonderful way in which the students represented DC as ambassadors of the school.

Each DC student was individually presented with a medal and an official HKUPA sports jersey to commemorate their third-place standing. A special mention to Colin Wu also who was nominated by his DC team-mates for superb leadership and was deservedly awarded the ’spirit-of-the-game’ award.
