Save the Kitchen Bake off

Posted: May 15, 2015

A group of DC students involved in delivering educational programmes to refugees in HK are next week hosting their ‘Save the Kitchen Bake off‘.  The event is aimed at raising funds for Christian Action’s Chungking Mansion Service Centre’s kitchen – a food programme that provides 20,000 meals per year to refugees in Hong Kong.  Without financial support, the kitchen may be closed.

Students and other members of the school community are encouraged to gather some friends to create a team, bake some goods (No Peanuts) and then sell them competitively after school next Tuesday 19 May or Wednesday 20 May. Whoever sells the most, WINS!

All money goes towards helping sustain the food program CKMSC is running.  Open to students, staff and friends.  Email patrick.hawkey@dc.edu.hk for details.

“When I arrived in Hong Kong and had no food or shelter, Christian Action’s kitchen door was the only door open to me. Suddenly, my life was not that bad.” – Ali, Somalian refugee
