Year 10 students explore the elastic energy of springs

Posted: May 29, 2015

Energy can be stored in springs. The amount of potential energy stored depends on its elasticity. How does the applied force on a spring affect the amount it stretches? Y10 Science students investigated this question by attaching masses to a spring, measuring the relative spring extensions, and then graphing applied force vs. spring extension to gain understanding of the spring’s elastic limit.
