Discovery Culture Festival 2015, 2-10 December

Exciting news – The Discovery College Arts & Culture Festival is this year combining with the annual Book Week to create one big, wonderful event, Discovery Culture Festival 2015! Students will have a week celebrating arts, culture and literature across the College, with visiting artists, authors and experts in a range of fields. Some of the activities confirmed so far:

  • Primary: Y1 African Drumming & Stories, Y2 Brazilian Capoeira, Y3 Chinese Water Colour Painting, Y4 Chinese Dragon Dance, Y5 Street Dance, talks by author Sarah Brennan, ‘Decorate your Classroom as a Book’ competition, a Primary ‘Peace Tree’, and more.
  • Secondary and Senior Student (Y10-12) Electives: Y8 Stage Fighting Techniques with Faust, talks by author and journalist Nury Vittachi for Y12 & 13, the ‘No Boundaries Bamboo Grove’, workshops in architecture, costume design, ceramics, DJing, parkour, cake decorating, artist studio visits, photography, comic art and design, and more.
  • Whole School: The opening festival parade, student music performances and art exhibitions, book quizzes, lunchtime literature treasure hunts, ‘Guess Who’s Behind the Book’, ‘Buskers’ Corner’ and the ‘People & Places’ photo competition.

Parents are warmly invited to come and view your children’s activities and exhibitions. Watch this space for information on more events, coming soon!
