Cycling for Soap Cycling

Posted: October 28, 2016

For work experience in Y11, I interned at a nonprofit organization called Soap Cycling, which collects used soap from hotels, reprocesses it, and then ships it out to underprivileged communities in SE Asia.

As it was my first time being an intern, I was nervous of the responsibility that I would have and my capability to work with adults. Although my internship was very short, I was able to experience working with others, think about marketing strategies, and learn how to make my own decisions. I also learned the importance of communication and documentation. Overall, interning at Soap Cycling was a great experience and gave me an idea of what I want to do in the future. After the internship, I kept contact with Soap Cycling and I have the opportunity to be involved with organising some of their events.

Soap Cycling is holding a kids cycling fundraising event in Siena Park on Saturday 19 November. It will be a fun and educational scavenger hunt ride through the area around DC. It’s free to participate, but the children are asked to raise funds to support Soap Cycling by registering for the event.

I believe that this is a great opportunity for the DC community to get involved and raise awareness about the issue of hygiene around the world.
