Posted: March 29, 2018

Three DC Primary teams participated in the HK Junior Chess Club Interschool Chess Championship held on Sunday 25 March. Out of 32 teams, DC Team A was crowned the Champions for the second year in a row (won 6 rounds, drew 1 and no rounds lost). Team B came away with 2 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses. Lower Primary Team (Year 1 to 3), did well to secure 3 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses, considering this was the first interschool tournament for most students in this age group. The teams were:
Team A Upper Primary – Seth Peramunetilleke (Y6), Mahir Uppal (Y4), Noah Chang (Y6) and Noah Michishita (Y4).
Team B Upper Primary – Nathan Chang (Y4), James Gui (Y6), Joshua Lam (Y4), Adrian Fan (Y4), Yannie Ho (Y5)
Lower Primary – Savin Peramunetilleke (Y3), Parth Sane (Y3), Angus Ho (Y3), Chloe Yu (Y3), Candy Zang (Y3), Angie Ho (Y2)

There were five individual prize winners: Seth (1st Runner up Board 1), Mahir (Champion Board 2), James (4th Runner up Board 2), Noah M. (1st Runner up Board 4), Savin (3rd runner up Board 1 Lower Primary). A big thank you to David and Alberto from Caissa Chess Club (Discovery Bay) for helping with the organisation and team preparation, and to the parents for their support and dedication.
