AISMUN Conference May 25-27

Posted: June 1, 2018

Over the weekend, students from DC participated in AISMUN (Australian International School Model United Nations) IX, ‘Between the Lines’, an experience that further deepened students’ MUN knowledge. Junior model United Nations is a simulation of the UN that involves debating, addressing world issues through the development of resolutions and making new friends. Over twenty students from Y7-10 participated. Despite the early morning starts, students engaged in writing and debating resolutions discussing world issues as diverse as the situation in Myanmar to ensuring the rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) community. It wasn’t all hard work, as on the Saturday night there was a social event that included karaoke, basketball, ping pong, a photo booth and most importantly, pizza! AIS were fantastic hosts and the students look forward to attending next year. Junior Model United Nations at Discovery College is a year long CCA for preparing to attend conferences.
