Chinese Programme – Staffing

Posted: October 12, 2018

After mid-term break the Primary Chinese Programme will undergo some staffing changes. Lilian Wong, our current Head of Chinese, has been successful in gaining a position in Beijing and will leave us to take on this new and exciting leadership opportunity. We wish Lilian all the very best for her move and thank her for her dedication to and support of the Chinese programme at DC over the past six years. Replacing Lilian will be Kaye Ding; Kaye is currently an IB PYP teacher at Lutheran Academy Hong Kong, an IB school. Kaye has been working occasionally as a supply teacher over the past month at DC to gain an understanding of the programme and meet some of the students. We look forward to welcoming her to DC after the mid-term break. She will be taking on all of Lilian’s current classes until the end of the school year and has spent time with Lilian to ensure there is a smooth and successful handover process.

Kate Agars, PYP Vice Principal will be supporting the Chinese team in the absence of a Head of Chinese until the end of the school year whilst we find a suitable replacement for the Head of Chinese role. We would ask that all day to day correspondence, as per normal, be directed to the Chinese teachers and Kate will handle any other matters.

On another note and some exciting news to share, Yan Ping Zhao, as many would be aware is currently pregnant and in the not too distant future will be expecting the birth of her first child. A really exciting time for Yan Ping and we wish her all the very best. Yan Ping will be on maternity leave between mid-term break and Early February. Yan Ping’s replacement will be announced after mid-term break.
