Learning about the Moon Festival

Posted: September 8, 2014

The Mid-Autumn (Moon) Festival is an official harvest festival celebrated by Chinese and many other Asian countries. It is one of the most important days in the Chinese Culture as it means reunion of the family. To celebrate it, students have been learning about the stories and songs about the moon during their Chines lessons. Year 1 students focused on the story of the Moon Lady. Year 2 learned about the story of the Jade Rabbit. We also looked at the significance of moon cakes, Chinese pop songs and other relevant beliefs and traditions.
