As many of you are aware, Apple released an upgrade to their operating system to 10.10 (Yosemite – and it is a free upgrade). Whilst this update looks good and most likely will be an improvement, we are asking you NOT TO UPGRADE at this point due to Discovery College requiring time to run and test Yosemite in our current environment.
Already we have discovered issues within our environment relating to amount of memory used and speed of older machines. This is expected when an upgrade occurs but it is really important that our ICT team head off these problems before we ask the staff or students to update. IF YOU HAVE ALREADY UPDATED, your Macbook may already be experiencing some issues and our team will not be able to help you until we have done the necessary adjustment here at DC. It is important to know that if you have upgraded to Yosemite then you cannot go back a version unless you re-image your machine.
