Galaxy 5 put their learning styles to the test

Year 5 students, in mixed groups of visual, auditory and tactile learners, worked together on a special project. After some thinking time about the provocation, ‘If I could design an ideal learning space it would look like this,’ the students began to plan their summative assessment. They had to consider the central idea, lines of inquiry, learning styles and the needs of all learners in our learning community.
After planning, the students had two blocks to complete their task. Below are some photos of the beginning stages of the project. You will notice the range of materials, the different mediums and the various ways of displaying their understanding of the central idea. It is a very visual result of the different learning styles amongst our students.
