The students in Year 5 came back to their first week of Term 2 to prepare a World Feast. As a provocation to their ‘How we organise ourselves’ unit of inquiry, students participated in a trade simulation. Students were expected to provide food for a world feast (paper food!) and in order to do this they were required to use the skills and strategies of trading, buying, loaning, selling…and in some cases, begging. It was a provocative way to begin the unit.
