The Year 2 students have just started their new unit on Invasion Games. The focus in Year 2 is on basketball. This unit builds upon the basic skills they would have learned about in netball during Year 1. It has been interesting to see the varying levels of ability when bouncing and dribbling a ball during the class. For some children it has been the first time they have dribbled a basketball. We intend to continue working on dribbling skills and then work on shooting before bringing all the elements into an adapted game situation. Please encourage your children to practice their dribbling skills at home with any sort or size of ball as this will help support them in this unit.
