The new unit of inquiry in Year 2 is all about history, focusing on places and events over time. With so much to explore, students have started researching many different periods of time including ancient history, pre-historic times, medieval and even modern times. Through the concept of ‘perspective’ students are beginning to recognise what it was like for the people who lived during these periods. By considering the five senses, they are identifying how different people felt about the same event, using role-play to ‘step into their shoes’. Curiosity and enthusiasm of students is obvious as they continue to uncover historical information in pictures and photos, in books and on computers.
