On 4 May, 90 Year 5 students and six teachers headed out on a journey to the Hong Kong Wetlands Park. It was a very hot day, but armed with hats, drink bottles and cameras, we set off to observe and record in our field journal as many different biomes, insects, plants and animals as we could.
The students made many discoveries and returned with many wonderings.
Our research will now lead us to answering these questions and many more. We will be making connections between mangroves, mudflats and stream life, and our responsibility in keeping these areas and ecosystems healthy.
During this inquiry, our budding scientists will have opportunities to observe, hypothesize, test, record and take action.
The last comment heard was, ” I love this unit already!” What a great beginning to our ‘Sharing the Planet’ inquiry.
