On Wednesday night, Discovery College celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2015. The evening recognised the many accomplishments of this cohort, and officially marked the transition of these 47 students to alumni.
In addition to the presentation of graduation certificates, the ceremony featured several components that reflected important elements of the College that were of special importance to this class of students, including student voice, the arts, academics, and citizenship.
Students had an opportunity to share their reflections through two elected representatives, Samantha Ryan and Taha Hashim, who provided thoughtful remarks on their time at Discovery College. The student with the highest academic grades during the two-year Diploma Programme, Tra My Hickin, was recognised as the Valedictorian and offered inspiring words to her classmates as they embark on the next phase of their lives. Nina Rossiter was recognised with the Citizenship Award for her contributions to the wider life of the college community. Graduates also performed some musical selections during the ceremony. Pianists Emma Wong and Wei Chen Lo performed a duet, and the HL Music class, including Carla Acepcion, Tim Fung, Sean Koemba Selwood, Nicole Lau, Emma Yong and Wei Chen Lo, performed a contemporary piece.
Thank you to the DCPTA, who hosted a reception following the ceremony.
