At the end of the school year a small group of Y10 students held a second-hand textbook sale. Over the summer break our family had the privilege of traveling to The Philippines to attend our helper’s wedding. While there, we were able to donate the money raised from the sale to a school in a remote rural village on the Visayas Island. The school was thrilled to receive the HK$3,500 (PhP22,000) we raised. We hope to be able to send over a number of the unsold books and children’s picture books to the school soon. The money will be used to finish off the fence and gates around the school and the remainder will go towards buying a data projector. This school was quite badly damaged in Typhoon Haiyan in 2013 and is still trying to recover, so the money was much appreciated.
