We have had several students visit the MAC Centre recently due to turning on FileVault on their laptop and then forgetting the password that they set. This has resulted in a loss of all data stored on the hard drive. Please be very very careful if you do choose to use this feature. If you have forgotten your file vault password we are unable to help you recover the password or repair any hardware/software faults unless you have stored the recovery key or enabled iCloud recovery.
