ICAS Competition 2016

Entries are now open for the 2016 ICAS (International Competitions and Assessments for Schools) competition. ICAS provides an opportunity for your child to gain a measure of their own achievement in an external testing situation. This is a voluntary competition and your child may enter one, some or all of the competitions available to their year level. 

All students who choose to enter the competition receive a certificate and an individual student report indicating which questions they answered correctly and their score compared with the rest of the students tested.

Certificates are awarded for each year level as follows:

  • High Distinction to the top 1% of entrants
  • Distinction to the next 10% of entrants
  • Credit to the next 25% of entrants
  • Merit to the next 10% of entrants
  • Participation to all other participating entrants

A medal is awarded in each subject for the top score in HK in each year level. DC has a strong history with 17 previous medal winners. Last Year Joseph Cheung and Isabella Dai-Tsi-Tay won medals.

Venue: Discovery College

Day and time:
Secondary: Saturday 19 March 2016 8.30am-12.30pm.
Primary: Saturday 19 March 2016 from 12.30pm-5.15pm.
If you enter please make sure you keep this day free as the date for the competition is fixed.

Duration: Each test is between 45 minutes and 1 hour.

Eligibility

  • English, Mathematics and Writing  Y4 to Y13
  • Science  Y5 to Y13

Cost: $60 each for English, Mathematics and Science and $150 for the Writing competition payable by ePayment only. (paid through DC to the organisers and for supervision costs)

To enter: Entries can be made by completing the eNotice on Gateway. Payment will be debited directly from your child’s ePayment account, please make sure that your ePayment account has at least $330 to allow for the potential of all 4 competitions being entered.

Due date for submission of entries: Friday 11 December 2015.
