Chinese Flea Market raises funds

Posted: February 26, 2016

Y4 has successfully raised $6,383 during the Chinese Flea Market on Monday 21 February. The event was supported by several Chinese speaking parent volunteers from  the Mandarin Mother Tongue Support Group.

The money raised has been donated to Sower Action who are committed to supporting education aid for children in rural China. Sower Action is a non-religious, non-political and non-profit-making registered charity in Hong Kong, committed to promoting education aid in rural China by providing multidimensional support measures such as student sponsorship, school construction and facilities, teacher training, children & youth welfare and special education.

Year 4 students aimed to support this charity organisation because they explored in their previous unit “My school” how fortunate they are compared with some students who are in desperate need in rural China. The Sower Action visited DC on Wednesday to meet with the students and share their work, and at that time the Y4 students presented them with the donation.
