Discovery College entered a small team of three participants (Ron Tso, Tsz Ying Lee & Tia Power) in the inaugural ISSFHK fencing championships. They achieved quite exceptional results, with two of them winning a medal.
The competition itself was extremely heated, with violent bouts and highly skilled competitors. Throughout this competition, each individual member displayed exceptional agility, skill level and persistence, and this resulted in a highly favourable outcome.
Overall, it has been a valuable learning experience, for both the experienced and inexperienced members of the team. We all had worthwhile takeaways regarding technique and sportsmanship. The outcome and the lessons learnt from this event was invaluable, and it will certainly better equip the DC fencing team to achieve more in next year’s fencing event.
Discovery Bay is fortunate to have an experienced fencing instructor working out of the Community Centre and should anyone be interested in joining, we have included information.
