Posted: November 18, 2016

We are delighted to announce our speaker for the opening evening of the Discovery Culture Festival, Kelly Yang. A journalist, educator, and author, Kelly Yang will do a talk on the topic of how to get published as a student.

This motivational session shares Kelly’s unique journey as an author and offers tips for students and their parents to create and publish their own original works.

Kelly published her first book at the young age of 12 and, entering college at 13, is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and Harvard Law School. She is a columnist for the South China Morning Post and the best-selling author of children’s books. She has been published in the New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, CNN and other newspapers and magazines around the world.

Kelly will talk about key techniques for writing success, “easy” ways to publish, traditional publishing, success cases of children who got book deals and tips for pitching to editors and publishers.

Please join us on Wednesday 30 November from 7-8pm at Discovery College. Parents and students welcome. To register, email dc.pta@dc.edu.hk. Seats are limited. Free of charge, but a “entry by donation of $50” box will be available to raise fund for the Culture Festival.
