DC Chess Players Successful at HK Junior Chess Championships

Posted: December 2, 2016

Five out of seven DC students received prizes including two Champion titles at the Hong Kong Junior Chess Championships on 20 November.

In the U7 age group, Y3 student Mahir Uppal earned a Champion prize with a 100% score of 7 wins, closely followed by Y2 student Savin Peramunetilleke who only lost his only game to Mahir. The 4th prize went to Nathan Chang, who only lost one match each to fellow DC students Mahir and Savin. Noah Michishita with 4 points ended just out of the contention for a prize this year. DC ruled in the Lower Primary age group!

In U9 Seth Peramunetilleke, Y5 earned a 4th place prize in a strong field. Noah Chang, Y5 played well but fell out of prize contention with 3.5 points.

In U11 Miguel Garceran Wang, Y7 held onto his Champion title, a nice conclusion of the last time he is entitled to play in this age group.
