Humza Bazarwala – The Ant and the HudHud

Posted: May 12, 2017

Humza Bazarwala, a Y4 student at Discovery College has written a book, titled ‘The Ant and the HudHud’, a book for early readers with a very powerful message of “no matter how small you are, you can always help someone else”.

Humza is donating 100 percent of all proceeds to The White Helmets to help those most in need in Syria, aiming to raise HK$50,000. The White Helmets are a group of “volunteers [that] save people on all sides of the conflict – pledging commitment to the principles of ‘Humanity, Solidarity, Impartiality’ as outlined by the International Civil Defence Organisation”.

Given his weak handwriting at school, Humza was asked by his teacher to practise at home. While practising what seemed like meaningless random sentences at the time, Humza one day scribbled a story that actually made sense and evolved into his book. Through practice, dedication and support from his family Humza continue to work towards improving his story, resulting in it being published recently. A great story of perseverance.

Humza will be selling his books ($100) in the DC foyer next Monday and Tuesday between 8am and 8.20am, as well as on Wednesday between 3.15pm and 3.40pm. Please visit his booth. Congratulations Humza on your first book.
