Cells Viewed Through a Microscope

Posted: April 27, 2018

In Year 9 Science this week, students prepared several wet mount slides to view fresh onion cells, chlorella cells, and their own cheek cells. Students were able to observe the structure of these cells, magnified through the microscope, allowing them to find the nuclei of these cells. Students also looked at some prepared slides of cells from mammalian organs and plant stems. Their up-close observations allowed them to distinguish the characteristic similarities and differences between plant and animal cells.
