On Friday 27 April, 75 of our community members (mainly primary students and their parents) participated in the first of what is planned to become a regular Discovery College Community Beach Clean event. Together they collected 106Kg of rubbish from Sam Pak Wan Beach!
The Year 6 Environmental Ambassadors and Plastic Free Seas (who led this event) would like to thank all involved for their participation and support. It was great to see so many families working together, taking positive action and having a good time doing so.
With the recent PTA screening of ‘A Plastic Ocean’ it’s clear that this issue is not going to be resolved unless we drastically reduce our use of single-use plastic. Please support the DC Green Cobras with their initiative to reduce cafeteria waste by using a reusable container when buying drinks from the cafeteria (and receive a $3 discount off your purchase).
