Over the next few weeks all DC students in Y4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 will sit the International Schools’ Assessment (ISA). These assessments are designed by The Australian Council for Educational Research specifically for students in International schools and schools with an international focus. The papers will measure students’ performance in mathematical literacy, reading, writing in relation to other international school students at the same level. Y8 & 10 will sit the papers on Thursday 27 & Friday 28 September. Y4, 5 & 6 will sit the papers in the following week between Tuesday 2 – Friday 5 October. There is no need for students to do any preparation for ISA. You can find out more about ISA here.
DC uses information coming out of these assessments in a number of ways. Firstly, it provides additional information to identify student strengths and areas requiring further growth and support. Secondly, it provides benchmarking against other International schools. In past years DC students have performed above International school averages in almost all measures and year levels. Thirdly, it provides a picture of the developmental growth over time as our students sit the tests over consecutive years. Parents will receive an individual report from the ISA. This is usually available for distribution in January.
