Three of our Sports Captains, Sophie Telford, Daneika Fong, Paige Bailey will be running a booth at the Lamma Fun Day on Saturday 27 October.
As part of this, the Child Welfare Scheme (CWS) is hosting an 8km and 14km run on Saturday 27 October 2018 on Lamma Island from 10am to 2pm. Racing categories include Juniors (below 18), open (above 18), corporate and family (below 14 and accompanied by a parent, only applicable to the 8km).
All of the proceeds from the run goes to Child Welfare Scheme, a charity with bases in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and Nepal. All of the proceeds are used, with the help of local Nepalese NGOs to invest in rebuilding the structure of schools, following the 2015 Nepal earthquake, to ensure adequate hygiene and structure of the school. Child Welfare Scheme aims to support and enhance the Nepalese education system and healthcare, as well as investing in vocational training and anti-trafficking projects. At the finish line, Child Welfare Scheme will also be hosting Lamma Fun Day, a music festival to celebrate finishing the race and enjoy a day at the beach with family and friends.
