As part of their preparations for post-MYP study and ultimately the world of work, Y11 students will be expected to participate in the one-week work experience programme from Monday 17 to Friday 21 June. Work experience is an internship-like experience and is designed to give students a taste of the world of work. This includes the preparation of a CV, the writing of cover letters and approaching prospective workplaces to seek employment.
Students will be participating in workshops led by Ms Blomfield and Ms Jackson, the school’s Higher Education Counsellors, on CV and cover letter writing. They have been briefed on the expectations of the College and on appropriate work place conduct. They have also completed basic personality tests as part of the process in determining the vocational pathways they might consider. We are encouraging all Y11 students to start considering potential work placements and seeking contacts who may be able to facilitate a week-long placement. Further details, including an eNotice, will be forthcoming in early April 2019.
