The HK Junior Chess Club’s annual Inter-school Chess Competition was held last weekend at KGV School. 77 teams with 310 students battled for 2 days for the top spots; DC had 5 teams in the competition. The Lower Primary Team (Aryan Shankar, Rishaan Kapoor, Luke Wang, Angie Ho) came in as 4th runner ups beating 20 other teams, with Rishaan winning 1st runner up on Board 2. The Upper Primary Team 1 (Mahir Uppal, Savin Peramunetilleke, Noah Michishita, Nathan Chang) had a challenging task of playing with some students almost 3 years older but came out victorious as 2nd runner ups. Savin came in 5th runner up on Board 2. The Secondary Team (Seth Peramunetilleke, Pranshu Prakash, James Gui, Marcus Chao, Noah Chang) despite putting up a gallant fight was not able to secure a win this time, however Seth won 3rd runner up on Board 1 and James was 5th runner up on Board 3.
The other Upper Primary Teams were Team 2: Parth Sane, Rahul Peramunetilleke and Angus Ho and Team 3: Adrian Fan, Yannie Ho, Adrian Gao and Kasper van Eldik. Well done to all the students for putting in a King¹s effort!
