Wear Blue for World Autism Awareness Day

Posted: March 22, 2019

Recently through the Y5 Media Unit of Inquiry, two groups of students have been developing a strong advertising campaign to raise awareness of World Autism day. The students have created posters to advertise the event, as well as a presentation explaining what the day is all about and why Discovery College is participating. In partnership with some Y12 students, the students will be presenting their work to all year levels over the next two weeks.
As a school, we are looking to acknowledge this day in order to support ESF Jockey Club Sarah Roe School, the only Special Education Needs School in ESF Hong Kong and their PTA to purchase a much needed special school bus for their students.

Key Information
Theme: Students are encouraged to wear the colour blue
When: Tuesday 2 April 2019
Why: To raise awareness of World Autism Day and raise money to support ESF JCSRS PTA purchase a special school bus
Donation: We ask that all students who choose to wear blue donate $20 to this wonderful cause
Money will be collected by students at the beginning of the day in the DC foyer.

As a great show of support for a fellow ESF PTA, Discovery College PTA has offered to donate a set amount for every student who wears blue on the day. Student numbers will be counted during the day, so let’s get behind this great cause. Please see the student flyer below and around the school for more information.
