Does your child think, act, learn or behave a bit differently than the norm? Parenting can be a challenge at the best of times, but if the regular advice doesn’t quite fit your child, it can be especially challenging. Our group consists of DC parents of both primary and secondary students. We are supported by the DC Learning Diversity Team. We celebrate all neurodiverse children at DC, by providing help, support, information and education to their parents. We have a WhatsApp chat group for online support and meet up every 4-6 weeks. At our next meeting, we will be discussing comprehension of the written word and organisation of thoughts to form a written answer. We will look at what can inhibit a child’s ability to do this effectively, including the executive functions of working memory and metacognition. We will discuss ways in which we can help our children overcome difficulties in these areas. Bring along your questions, and stories of strategies you have tried, to the discussion. We look forward to meeting with you.
