Does your child think, act, learn or behave a bit differently than the norm? Parenting can be a challenge at the best of times, but if the regular advice doesn’t quite fit your child, it can be especially challenging. Our group consists of DC parents of both primary and secondary students. We are supported by the DC Learning Diversity Team. We celebrate all neurodiverse children at DC by providing help, support, information and education to their parents. We have a WhatsApp chat group for online support and meet up every 4-6 weeks.
Our next meeting will be:
Topic: Advocating for your Child at School
Presenter : Jill Walgren from the Secondary Learning Diversity Team
Date: Monday 9 September 2019
Time: 8.30am
Location: G/F Conference Room behind DC Reception
This presentation will focus on building relationships within the school. We will cover: meeting the educational needs of your child, understanding goals for your child, setting goals with the school for your child, communicating with the school, meetings and documentation, building strength in the family, possible external support, and collaborating to build relationships for your child. We will have time for discussion and questions.
