Online Library Resources

Posted: March 27, 2020

Discovery College Library offers a wide range of online resources which may be used to support the remote learning programme. You may click on the relevant links below to access information on these for both primary and secondary students.

Primary
All resources to support the Primary Years Programme are provided on the Ding! Library page or detailed on Home Learning grids each week. In addition, a number of educational providers are sharing further content for free during this time of school campus closure. The Ding! Library page is being updated regularly as more of these resources become available.

Read Aloud Resources
Our Library page on Ding! has been recently updated with several read aloud links for you to enjoy with your child. You will have seen that many authors are also now reading online and sharing videos of their stories at this time – you and your child may wish to search online for a favourite author. Current favourites this week are Mo Willems who offers lunchtime doodles and David Walliams. We recommend parental supervision as many authors are posting on a variety of social media channels such as YouTube and Instagram.

If you have any queries in relation to any of these resources, please contact our PYP Teacher Librarian, Leanne Sercombe by email to leanne.sercombe@dc.edu.hk

Secondary
These databases and online subscriptions can be accessed via our Library page in the Student Resources section of Ding!. If you have any queries in relation to any of these resources, please contact our Head of Library, Maura Corcoran by email at corcom1@dc.edu.hk

Our online resources are being well used and due to unprecedented demand across the world, some are experiencing surges of activity which may result in unplanned downtime. Others are scheduling maintenance to upgrade servers, e.g., Big Universe. Please try again at a later time if you encounter difficulties accessing them.
