Secondary Update

Posted: April 24, 2020

I trust that you and your children have enjoyed a good week and a successful start to Term 3.

Our Three-Way Conferences will continue with Year 7 and 10 on Monday 27 April 2020 followed by Year 8 and 11 on Tuesday 5 May 2020. For each booking you have made, Zoom links will be emailed to you prior to conferences so please look out for this information.
Due to the high demand for appointment times, we will also hold an additional Three-Way Conference opportunity in mid-May with details to follow soon.

Throughout last term, being able to continue with our structured timetable was one of our key successes. This enabled ongoing progression of learning across the subject disciplines and the opportunity to engage with teachers on a regular basis. Our aim is to continue with this approach but to also look for opportunities where:

  • Students can consolidate their learning and complete any ‘must do’ activities.
  • Students benefit from additional time to complete any assessments that inform Semester 2 grades.
  • Students can take time to capture their learning on ‘Evidencer’ and act on feedback they have been given.
  • Teachers can work collaboratively in order to plan further modifications to curriculum, resources and lessons so that they are appropriate for the online learning environment and continue to provide high quality learning experiences for students.

The vast majority of lessons will remain live Zoom based lessons so that we can continue with our structured timetable and students benefit from engaging with their teachers. However, from next week, there may be limited occasions when students will be notified by a subject teacher that their next lesson will not be on Zoom and they will have the opportunity to consolidate their learning and continue to make progress. Students will be notified in advance through Ding! Home Learning and will be given instructions on what to do for that lesson.

As ever, we will continue to reflect on our remote learning provision so that we continue to ensure high quality learning experiences for all of our students.

Thank you for your continued support and I hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend.

Best regards
Mark Poulsum
