DC’s former Chair of Council (2014-20), Mr Simon Wong, has recently been awarded the Medal of Honour from the HKSAR Government in recognition for his invaluable contribution to the anti-epidemic efforts against COVID-19. Simon led the development of the electronic wristband that has been supporting quarantine measures in response to the pandemic.
Simon is the CEO of the Logistics and Supply Chain MultiTech R&D Centre, a government-funded research and development institute. Over the past year, various Hong Kong designed products used to fight the pandemic have drawn interest from around the world. Among these are the smart wristbands used to support quarantine, which has sparked interest in over 20 countries and regions, including Israel, the Philippines and Saudi Arabia.
Simon is a proud and honoured recipient of the medal, as to his knowledge, over the past 10 years, nobody has received this award for technology research and development. Congratulations Simon!
