In an effort to provide students with better access to authentic service learning opportunities, DC has established a partnership with Social Career, an innovative volunteer platform that will allow DC students to view and sign up for internal and external volunteer opportunities. The platform provides a place for approved community service partners to post their volunteering opportunities. The exciting thing for us is that it also enables DC students to launch and recruit for their own student-led initiatives within the school community. The school will be able to track each student’s volunteer activities on the platform, as well as promote ESF wide student-led initiatives.
After students have successfully registered, parents will receive a notification email indicating that their child is using Social Career. Parents are required to provide consent before a student’s account becomes active.
Every time your child applies for a new volunteer opportunity on the platform, your child will be asked to send you an email asking for your consent. The reason for this is to ensure that both parents and the school are aware of the activities that your child wishes to engage in.
Upon seeing that this consent has been given, your child’s Learning Advisor will approve your child’s application within the Social Career platform, which will then get processed and sent to the recruiting NGO or volunteer activity leader.
