Back-to-School information for Secondary

Posted: August 10, 2021

Following what I hope has been an enjoyable summer break, we are looking forward to welcoming the Secondary students back to school on Wednesday 18 August.

As mentioned in a message last week, we have a new timetable structure for this year. The details for this, including the timings of each day can be found at this link. If they haven’t done so already, students can access their timetables on Gateway or Ding.

Our first day will be DAY 3 of the student timetable. We will have a slightly amended structure for the first day of term, which will be as follows:

Students will then follow their usual timetable from Thursday.

Please note that students should be in their Learning Team room by 8.20am each day and Block 4 will finish at 3.30pm each day.

Lockers
Lockers will be made available to the students within the first one or two days of term. Please ensure they bring a padlock to school.

PE Changing Rooms
I am delighted to say that students will be able to access the PE changing rooms. This means that each day students must wear their regular school uniform. If they have PHE, they must bring their PE uniform to change into.

There will be clear instructions and signage in the changing rooms focused on social distancing.

Break and Lunch Arrangements
As we are still unable to serve food, students will need to continue to bring their snacks, lunch and refillable water bottles.

Our break and lunch arrangements will continue from last year, which are as follows:

Morning Break 10.30-10.50 – Students can eat light snacks on the 2/F, 4/F and 5/F Decks

Lunchtime – 13.30 – 14.10 – Students will be able to access the canteen spaces to eat their lunch.

We will share more details with students on the first day of term.

School Uniform
A reminder that we have transitioned to an online uniform ordering system. The link for ordering the Discovery College uniform is live now and the website address is https://www.schooluniform.hk/. Deliveries usually take 3 working days.

I hope that this information proves useful and there will be more details shared with students at the start of the academic year.

Best regards
