Cobra Sports 2021-22

Posted: August 20, 2021

Hello! First of all I would like to say thank you for the warm and supportive welcome I have received from the entire Discovery College community. I am already overwhelmed by the generosity and assistance I have received from the students, staff and parents.

I am looking forward to sharing my genuine lifelong passion for sport and physical activity, ensuring students of all abilities are given the opportunity to represent the College, while cultivating the sporting experiences of our elite athletes.

Please find below specific information regarding the Cobra Sports Programme for Term 1. This schedule will be adapted and more activities added as the year progresses.

Secondary Sport

For Years 8 through to 13 a training schedule of selected sports has been released and will begin on Monday 23 August 2021. Students have been sent a sign up Google Form on the student bulletin to complete if they want to attend these training sessions. Previous COVID regulations are still in place for Term 1, meaning there are no fixtures or tournaments for the time being, therefore there will be no fees charged for Term 1 sports. If you have purchased a sports kit from Kukri, students will be encouraged to wear their team uniform to training. We will source fixtures where we can, as soon as we are able.

Year 7 Sport

To allow the Year 7 students to settle into Secondary schooling life, we will be advertising their sports schedule to begin in a couple of weeks’ time. This is so students are able to manage their workload initially before committing to Sport. The sign up and schedule will be advertised via the student bulletin. Only students will need to sign up as there will be no fees for Term 1 sports as we will be training only, due to no fixtures.

Primary Sport

Similarly to Year 7, Primary training for Years 5 and 6 will begin in a couple of weeks’ time to allow students to settle back into school life. The sign up will be slightly different as we will be seeking parent permission for Primary students to attend training sessions. More details will be sent out on the parent bulletin. For Years 1 through to 4, watch this space for new exciting opportunities as the school year progresses.

So, as we endeavour to work with the COVID protocols in place to keep everyone safe when it comes to school sports across Hong Kong, I am looking forward to seeing our students progress from the high quality coaching they will receive from our dedicated staff at DC.

Wishing you all a safe and happy return to school,
