We ALL have a book in us …what’s yours?

Posted: March 4, 2022

Have you had this idea in your head for a book or story but not yet put pen to paper? Over the coming weeks, we are encouraging budding authors and illustrators to have a go at creating a book. This could be anything from a picture book to biography, a poetry anthology to a recipe book, historical fiction to a book on how to write a book. You choose. Your book can be written in any language or might even be dual language. You could write on your own or find other members of the community to collaborate with remotely.

Discovery College is launching this Community Writing Project to run throughout the rest of Term 2 and Term 3. The aim is to encourage as many students and community members to have a go at putting pen to paper and creating a book. On our return to face-to-face teaching, the Discovery College Library team will then be creating a Community Book Shelf in the school library so that students from across the College can be inspired by the creativity within our community.

During this period to support the writing process we will be sharing a variety of online resources and details about how to submit your writing on the website below:

Next week, to support students as they start to generate and organise their ideas, a well-known member of our DC community, Frank Donnoli, will be providing an online workshop for all of our primary classes to share his writing process. Many of you will remember Frank as our former Primary Drama Teacher. What you might not know is that Frank is also the author and illustrator of five published picture books.

If you or members of your family are writers, illustrators, publishers or editors and would be happy to support the project in any way, please contact or
