Secondary Student Textbooks 2022-2023

Posted: June 10, 2022

This year, parents will again be able to purchase textbooks directly from our chosen supplier, A & P (Academic & Professional Book Centre). This is the same company that we have used for the past nine years. A & P is Hong Kong-based, offers competitive prices and has a custom-designed website for ordering. Payment will be made directly to A & P by credit card, or by cash when collecting books if credit card is not possible. Please note that if you pay by cash, there will likely be a much longer waiting time when collecting books.

You will be able to either collect the books from school, or have the books delivered by post to your home address.  There will be an additional fee of $65 for postal delivery. To ensure the arrival of books before the start of the school year, orders need to be made through the online system by Friday 1 July for students entering Year 12, and Friday 8 July for students entering Years 7-11.

The online ordering system will be available throughout the entire year. Any books ordered after the above deadlines will need to be delivered by post for the additional fee, and there may be a delay of 4-6 weeks.

To access the ordering website, click HERE.

Select your child’s current year level (or “New to DC” if your child is a new student starting in August 2022) and the year level that your child is going into in August 2022. Input the required details and select the books that you need to purchase.

Please click here for individual year level details.

New students starting in August 2022

  • It may not be possible to place new students in the correct level for Chinese until they arrive in the school.
  • New Year 12 students may not have finalised subject choices.
  • If unsure what books to buy, it is better to wait until August before ordering. There may be some delay in the arrival of books, but it is better to wait and ensure that you buy the correct books.
  • Books can be ordered through the online system, but will need to be delivered by post for the additional fee of $65.

Changing books
Year 12 students may change their mind as to what subjects and/or levels they wish to study, even after several weeks of school. In Years 7-11, students may change their language level. Year 12 and Chinese textbooks can therefore be returned to A & P for a refund, as long as they are in as-new condition, for example they have not been written on. New textbooks can then be ordered. The deadline for returning books is Friday 23 September.

Book distribution
A & P will run a distribution point at Discovery College in the foyer of the theatre on the following dates:

  • Monday 22 August from 10.00am to 4.30pm
  • Wednesday 24 August from 10.00am to 4.30pm

Please remember to bring your book order confirmation letter and cash (if you have not paid by credit card by the time of ordering). Please note that if you pay by cash, there will likely be a much longer waiting time when collecting books.

After Wednesday 24 August, books will need to be delivered to the home address for the additional fee of $65.
