On 14 and 15 October, Discovery College hosted its very own Model United Nations (MUN) Conference for the first time since 2018. This student-led initiative was a great success, bringing together a number of visiting schools alongside our own delegates to debate and discuss international issues both contemporary and historical. Congratulations are due to Rea Kim, Ian Suh, Caitlin Wong and Adrien Nolens-Liu for their tireless work in putting the conference together. Thanks go also to the student volunteers who helped to support administration and media, and to the staff – Ms Tam, Mr Lo, Ms Cheng and others – who made the event possible.
Our delegates did tremendously well throughout, with a large number picking up awards for best delegate / outstanding delegate / most improved delegate in the 5 different committees:
Carl Loeffler, Hunter Clausen, Krish Bhandari, Darren Leung, Jibin Cha, Mark Koung, Alexander Nolens-Liu, Yasemin Circi, Jasnoor Kaur, Attayah Dawelbait, Yashasvini Agarwal, Tamia Montes.
With such outstanding performances by DC students, and with the opportunities the conference brought for students to refine their skills and be inspired towards future MUN opportunities, this experience will doubtless be a springboard for many other occasions throughout this year. Well done to all involved.
