What a fabulous week of artistic discovery and creative exploration at Discovery College! This past week, students across different year levels immersed themselves in the diverse world of art ranging from an exhibition to the ESF Happy Holiday art competition.
The talented Year 10 artists of Discovery College curated their final pieces in an exceptional exhibition titled “Abstract Horizons: Discovering Hidden Landscapes.” In the exhibition, the Visual Arts students explored the realm of representing landscapes through the lens of personal perspectives, employing unique and non-representational approaches. Each painting showcased in the exhibition is a reflection of the individual artist’s personal interpretation of the landscapes they feel a profound connection to.
The Year 11 and Year 12 Visual Art classes participated in a mixed-media art workshop with Ian Murphy, an internationally acclaimed fine artist and art educator from England. Ian shared his fascinating mixed-media pieces and techniques, which inspired our young artists. During the workshop, our students explored and embraced a variety of drawing techniques and processes, resulting in the creation of multiple avant-garde pieces of art.
Meanwhile, the Primary art students were also engaged in their own artistic endeavours, creating ESF ‘Happy Holidays’ cards, and spreading joy and cheer through their creative expression. We have more than twenty cards submitted and we will share shortlisted pieces in a week. Thank you for your participation.
