Primary Update

Posted: November 10, 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we look back at the recent Halloween event, we wanted to share some additional pictures of your incredible children. The school was buzzing with creativity and laughter as so many of you joined us for a memorable hour of crafts and community building. A huge thank you to everyone who participated, helping to make this event a standout memory for our students.

We extend a special note of gratitude to our PTA, whose tireless efforts helped bring our vision to life. And of course, a huge shout-out to Jamie, whose extra effort added that special touch to our celebration.

As we continue to embrace and celebrate different cultures within our community, we invite you to read Mr. Smith’s Explorer article on Diwali.

Switching gears to the sports field, we couldn’t be more proud of our Primary DC Football teams who shone at the HKPSSA Football Festival on Thursday, November 9. Competing against 24 teams, our boys’ teams topped their initial leagues, while our girls showcased their skills in a round-robin format. Observing their growing confidence and team spirit was a joy. A big “thank you” to everyone who contributed to this memorable experience for our students.

Looking ahead, we eagerly anticipate the upcoming parent-teacher conferences and the opportunities they provide to discuss your child’s progress. Please refer to the letter sent out today for details. Find it here

We’re excited to announce that we will be participating in ‘Odd Socks Day’ on Friday, November 17. Although this initiative may be known differently in other schools and indeed on a different day, we see it as a chance to spark conversations about kindness, inclusion, and respect for others. Every day our students embody the attributes of the IB Learner Profile. ‘Odd Socks Day’ provides an additional opportunity for them to reflect on and demonstrate these values. Let’s embrace the day to celebrate our differences and to foster a culture of caring, open-mindedness, and respect. Students should wear their uniform but have odd socks (different colours for example). They can also accessorise their socks (or tights) like in the example below.

Exciting times lie ahead for our Year 6 students. They will be joining the MYP students next week on a thrilling ‘No Boundaries’ adventure across Hong Kong. We’re certain this will be an unforgettable experience, and we eagerly anticipate their return, brimming with stories from their journey.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend with your incredible children.

Ms Cathrae
