The return of Work Experience for Year 11 next June

Posted: December 1, 2023

We are excited to inform you that our Work Experience week for Year 11 is back in operation and taking place from Monday 17 to Friday 21 June.

In contrast to the last three years of a combined virtual and school based work project, students will have the great opportunity to venture out into the work place and gain some valuable hands on industry experience.

The goal is for students to secure placements in a diverse range of fields, including but not limited to the corporate sector, medical practices, vet practices, retail, health and fitness industry, sports coaching, catering and hospitality, design studies and engineering facilities. While we encourage students to look for internships in the fields of work they are most interested in, we do emphasise that finding a placement in any field is valuable.

Although we will be liaising with outside providers, students are expected to be proactive in finding their own work placements, as we believe this will be a valuable and beneficial experience when they look for work or complete their tertiary studies. Inevitably and understandably, some students experience difficulties in finding a placement. In previous years, the broader DC community has been very supportive of offering placements to these students and we are reaching out to our parent body for anyone who feels they could support a work experience placement.

We would like you to consider your contacts and networks to support our young people to secure a 5-day valuable work placement next June. More details will follow shortly.
