Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Carrying heavy hearts, we have reached the end of our week. We wish to thank you for your support and understanding.
We wish to express our sympathies towards our family who have lost their loved one this week and we know we can speak on behalf of the entire community in saying that you are not alone. This will be a difficult and sad time and we express our condolences and support as you navigate your loss and grief.
When tragedy occurs in a community such as ours, emotions can be felt in far-reaching ways and by all. We will continue to provide guidance and offer support for our students, teachers, and support staff. We would like to draw your attention to some further resources that we have prepared to help you speak with your children – a ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ document that may help if your child wants to talk further about death and grief. As a reminder, our counselling team is available for any student who needs someone to talk to on campus and we will continue this for as long as there are needs across the school.
We appreciate that a number of parents have reached out with questions. We will do our best to address these, though we also need to be clear that it is not appropriate for us to comment on the circumstances of the accident itself and it is important that we support the authorities in conducting the necessary investigation. We would ask everyone to bear in mind the importance of refraining from speculation. Our focus at this time will be on wrapping our arms around the community and offering support.
Please take care of yourselves and each other. Lean on the strength of our community, offer support to those who are grieving, and be mindful of your own well-being. We are here for each other.
