We hosted a successful MYP Parent Workshop dedicated to clarifying the common misconceptions associated with the Middle Years Programme (MYP) on Friday, 13 September. The event was a great opportunity for parents to gain a better understanding of the MYP and how it benefits their children.
The workshop began by asking parents to complete the sentence “I hope the MYP will help my child…” on sticky notes. This activity encouraged parents to share their hopes and expectations, which aligned beautifully with the MYP’s goals of fostering learning, nurturing good attitudes, and developing international perspectives. Here are some insights from parents.
The “MYP Hit-or-Myth Bingo” was a standout activity in the workshop, offering an engaging and interactive experience for all involved. During this session, parents actively participated by discussing and debunking common myths about the MYP and IGCSE listed on their Bingo cards. This activity encouraged them to interact with fellow parents as they sought out signatures in the respective boxes from those who could validate the correct answers. On the Bingo card, each box required a unique signature, promoting not only the exchange of knowledge, but also building relationships between parents across the MYP years. The game reached an energetic conclusion with participants enthusiastically exclaiming “MYP Bingo!” as they successfully completed all four straight lines on their cards.
