On 19-20 October, Discovery College hosted its second annual Model United Nations conference. The student-run event brought together passionate students from schools across Hong Kong to foster diplomacy and critically debate global issues. Delegates participated in thought-provoking discussions on complicated topics ranging from global desertification to NATO’s intervention in Libya. The quality of the ongoing debates during the weekend was remarkable, showcasing the dedication and thorough preparation of all delegates.
Congratulations to our DC students who won awards and honourable mentions for their exceptional performances. A special thank you to the Discovery College Chairs, Nicole Rodrigues and Alexander Nolens-Liu who prepared a thorough and insightful chair report for delegates to study from.
This event was organised by our dedicated student leaders and Secretary-Generals, Yashasvini Agarwal and Defne Akkok, with the support of their Executive Committee consisting of Hunter Clausen, Leo Chen, and Tvisha Valakati. They collaborated tirelessly for months to create an enjoyable and seamless weekend for all. They would like to express their gratitude to Mr James Smith, their teacher supervisor, and to the finance department for their support during this process.
Discovery College looks forward to continuing this inspiring tradition, empowering students to voice their ideas regarding global issues and develop their leadership/diplomacy skills.
